Terms of use: Firearms are inherently dangerous tools, and the end user assumes all risks and responsibilities that go hand-in-hand with carrying a firearm. It is your responsibility to get trained in the safe and proper use of your firearm. Firearms should always be treated as if they were loaded. When practicing presentation from a holster, make certain that the firearm is unloaded. Using a firearm in a holster it wasn't designed to fit can be a safety concern. By purchasing or using my products, you agree to the terms of use, and agree that I am not liable or responsible for any damages resulting from their use.

Leather is an organic substance, and is therefore somewhat unpredictable. After all, cows are unique creatures too. Part of what makes leather so beautiful is its random grain, and although I try to avoid any scars or marks, sometimes those marks don't really show through until after the piece is shaped and molded. I use the highest-grade leather available, so marks are less common, but still may crop up from time to time.

I use a software tool (Visitor Analytics) to measure and collect session information, including page response times, length of visits to certain pages, page interaction information, and methods used to browse away from the page.

Visitor Analytics is a simple website analytics service which measures the traffic and visitors' general details of the customers' websites. Basically, as a website owner using Visitor Analytics, I am using cookies to collect data about visitors' device type and screen size, approximate location, browser, OS, IPs, page visits, bounce rate, conversions and popular content on the website. All this data is pseudonymized and Visitor Analytics will never use the collected data to identify individual users or to match it with additional information on an individual user. Each visitor has control over the cookies placement.

When you contact me through my website, I collect personal information you give me, such as your name, address and email address. Your personal information will only be used for the purposes of communicating with you, and fulfilling your order (including asking any questions relevant to the order, providing and verifying shipping details, and arranging payments). I don't share or sell your information, and I don't spam you with newsletters or surveys.

Your data may be stored through Wix.com’s data storage, databases and the general Wix.com applications. They store your data on secure servers behind a firewall.

I reserve the right to modify this privacy policy at any time, so please review it frequently. Changes and clarifications will take effect immediately upon their posting on the website. If I make material changes to this policy, I will notify you here that it has been updated, so that you are aware of what information I collect, how I use it, and under what circumstances (if any) we use or disclose it.

Wait times decreased!

For the first time ever, I am pleased to announce that I have been able to decrease my wait times! I'm now quoting 4 to 5 weeks for new orders. To put things in perspective, it has been 30 months (2.5 years) since my wait times were this low.

Redesi...

Privateer Leather is now on Instagram

I had some family members talk me into joining Instagram. As it turns out, it is a simple way to share pictures of my work, and is far less time-intensive compared to other things I have tried. If you are inclined to do so, you can...

Due to supply issues, I'm afraid I am not able to accept new belt orders until further notice.

If you already have a belt on order, don't worry -- I have just enough materials to complete my existing orders.

I am still searching for a suitable supplier, so I will make an...

I have added several new holsters to the "In-stock items" page, including some blemished items at discounted prices. As always, shipping is on me (USPS to the lower 48 states) for in-stock items. Be sure to check them out -- they need a good home!

I also have a new dye

Holiday Order Deadlines, and Vacation

The holiday season is sneaking up quickly. Even before my wait times got so long, the holidays have been a crazy and hectic time, so this year I'm attempting to get out in front of it.

This is complicated somewhat by the fact that...

Price changes

Bad news - my leather supplier has closed their doors, which marks a sad day for me. They were great folks, incredibly helpful, and close enough to me that I usually got my orders in 1 or 2 business days. I'm very sad to see them go, but I wish them a hap...

After some effort, and lots of help from people smarter than myself, I now have a new email address, which should be able to support the kind of message traffic I've been seeing lately.

The new address is wes@privateerleather.com. The website has been updated to refle...

I have re-written the "Care" section of the website, which was overdue. The section now has two distinct segments, one dealing with break-in, and one dealing with long-term care.

If you have any questions, or find anything about it confusing, please let me know. Like t...

I've got a few announcements, so I'm just going to lump them all into one post.

I've added a Walther P99 mold to the collection!

I may be out of contact tomorrow (June 5th) for at least part of the day. I've got a minor medical procedure happening in the morning, and I...

Due to the rising cost of leather, I'm afraid I'm going to have to adjust my prices. This isn't something that I want to do, but I decided that it would be better to raise my prices than use inferior leather. Likewise, I'm sure you want a holster made from the best ava...
